The College of Nursing has a BSN program that prepares individuals for entry into a nursing career, an MSN program that prepares beginning advanced practice nurses, DNP program which prepares expert clinicians for practice, and PhD program which prepares research scientists.  Our programs use emerging technology to enhance access to our programs by providing course work that is convenient and timely for clinicians and students.

Nursing Faculty: Clinical experience in obstetrical and pediatric nursing

Currently, we are inviting applications for the following full-time, tenure track position. This position requires a strong commitment to teaching, the use of technology and innovation in the delivery of instruction, and the ability to infuse new approaches into the teaching/learning process.

Bethel College is a private, liberal-arts college with an annual enrollment of approximately 1,900 traditional and non-traditional students. The college is situated in McKenzie , Tennessee (a town of 5,400); Bethel is halfway between Memphis and Nashville (110 miles from each). Bethel College is the only college affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Bethel is chartered by the State of Tennessee and accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Department of Nursing is seeking a full-time nurse educator in the area of obstetrical and pediatric nursing. Faculty responsibilities include classroom and clinical teaching, student advisement, and professional development. The successful candidate must have a terminal degree in Nursing and must have participated or taught in the clinical specialty within the last five years. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in curriculum development and implementation. Must be licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee or eligible for licensure, be BLS certified and willing to become a certified BLS instructor. This position is based on the main campus in McKenzie; some travel associated with clinical teaching is required. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, OR PROFESSOR Nursing

Three full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position available.

Tennessee Technological University is located on the picturesque Cumberland Plateau, in Cookeville, a city of 35,000 located midway between Nashville and Knoxville. The University enrolls approximately 10,000 students in the College of Agricultural and Human Science (School of Nursing), Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Engineering, awarding bachelors degrees in more than 50 fields of study, masters degrees in 22 fields of study, a Specialty in Education Degree, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Engineering, Environmental Science and Exceptional Learning.

Founded in 1980, the Nursing baccalaureate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and maintains full approval by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Approximately three hundred students are enrolled in pre-nursing. Upper Division Nursing consists of generic BSN students and RN/BSN completion students. Beginning 2008 we will be doubling enrollment and graduating approximately 100 students per year. Clinical experiences are in the local community hospitals, health departments, schools, community mental health centers, and other community agencies. Opportunities exist for both rural and urban experiences. Occasionally students and faculty travel to a metropolitan area, 80-100 miles for clinical experiences.  TTU’s School of Nursing is one of the six Tennessee Board of Regent schools participating in the MSN Regents Online Degree Program (RODP), which is fully accredited through the National league for Nursing Accreditation Commission.

QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree in nursing and current clinical experience is required.  A doctorate in nursing or related area is preferred.  Prior teaching in a BSN program is desirable. Current or eligibility for Tennessee Registered Nurse licensure is required. Specialties in Medical-surgical nursing preferred.  Other specialty areas will be considered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities include classroom and clinical teaching with a commitment to clinical excellence. In addition, academic advisement, scholarly activities and university and community service are a part of the faculty role. There is strong University support for the utilization of technology to include web-based courses and distance learning. Also opportunities to establish and maintain community-based practice in inter-disciplinary settings.

RANK AND SALARY: Appointment will be at the academic rank commensurate with preparation and experience.  Salary and benefits are competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
